영문 독해, 이 보다 더 어려울 순 없다!

(A) A Cruel Comment
Nicole & Mike were singers. They travelled from one town to another and gave concerts for local people. They enjoyed singing and most people enjoyed listening to them, but sometimes they sang better than at other times.
On days when they were good, the people would clap and cheer and call for more, and Nicole & Mike were really happy.
On the days when they were not very good, the people still clapped and said how good they were, but they were just being polite.
One day, Nicole & Mike came to a town where they had never been before. Quite a few people came to the concert. Nicole & Mike thought they sang well that night.
After the concert people came up and told them their singing was very nice. Nicole & Mike were satisfied with their comments.
One man came up to them and said, "I think that the singers who were here last week were a lot better than you. But don't worry. If you practice more, you will improve, and one day you might be as good as they were."
Nicole & Mike hoped that other people didn't feel the same way.
A woman came up to them after the man. She had heard what he had said to them. She felt sorry for them and wanted to make them feel better.
"Don't worry about him," she said. "He does not know music. He just repeats what he hears other people saying."
(B) An unlucky thief
Roger was a thief, but he wasn't very clever. One day he went into a store wearing the clothes that he had stolen the day before. Those clothes still had the price tags on them, and the store manager called the police. Fortunately he was simply warned by the police thanks to the manager. The manager didn't want Roger to be punished.
However, Roger decided to rob a bank later. He planned everything. He got some gloves so that he would not leave fingerprints, and a mask so that no one would recognize him.
"But what if they recognize my voice?" he thought.
He decided to write his message on a piece of paper so that he wouldn't need to speak. He found an old envelope and wrote 'give me all the money' on the back of it. He got a toy gun and went to the bank. He put on his mask and his gloves and showed the note to the teller. The teller gave him all the money, and Roger ran out of the bank and went straight back home.
Ten minutes later he heard the knock on the door. It was the police. They had come to arrest him for robbing the bank.
"How did you find me so quickly?" asked Roger.
"It was easy," said the police. "Your address was on the envelope!"
